There’s a natural tendency to assume we know what other people are thinking based on the actions we see them take. However, when we do this we tend to fill in the blanks with our own assumptions and fillers that are often negative and before you know it we’ve created adversaries where they may not have been any. The best solution is to start asking people what they’re thinking and how they’re feeling about something so that we know without having to assume. In turn we can be more effective in producing positive outcomes by resolving real issues rather than creating unnecessary problems.
