Our fourth episode explores Jesus’ ancestry and his contemporary family. We discuss the purposes and peculiarities of Jesus’ genealogies in Matthew and Luke. Then we survey Jesus’ nuclear and extended family, including Mary, Joseph, Jesus’ brothers and sisters, and Mary’s kinsperson, Elizabeth. As part of this discussion, we look at their initial attitudes towards Jesus and the later impact James and Jude had on early Christianity
