Today’s episode revises over arguments, and what makes them different to descriptions and explanations.

  • Overview of what makes an argument
  • Earlier examples of identifying arguments
  • Classify each of the following passages as a description, explanation or argument.

    1. The ipad is an electronic device, which you can use to connect to the internet, play games and use for work.
    2. Bugs are damaging to society, because they like to eat people and they like to destroy towns with their vast numbers of stabby parts.
    3. I would have gone to the beach, but it was raining today.
    4. You may think that the beach is not fun in the rain, but the water gets warmer in the rain and because there’s less people there, you can get a space to sit.
    5. The cat is a four-legged creature, with whiskers, a tail and pointy nose.
    6. I would have thought it was a cat, however, it made a woof sound, so it was a dog.
