It seems that religion is a persistent phenomenon — and whether you are a member of a religion, such as a theist, Christian, Muslim, polytheist, Hindu or something else, there’s a number of similar concerns about what is the best life to live and how best to behave according your beliefs. Even if you’re not a follower of a religion, the questions and actions about God/s influence laws and society, even politics and education, whether we’d like it to or not.

The central topics in philosophy of religion, involves unpacking the nature of religion and what part it plays in our lives, what divine beings are like and how we relate to them. Many Philosophers have debated and discussed the validity of religious claims, including what constitutes faith, and the experiences that entail with belief in god/s, such as Anselm, Aquinas’s Summas, Maimonides’ Guide for the Perplexed, and al-Ghazali’s Incoherence of the Philosophers. Religious ideas have also influenced metaphysical systems like Plato’s, Plotinus’s, Descartes’, and Leibniz’s. Hindu Vedanta and classical Buddhism include investigations of the nature of the Brahman and of the Buddha. Modern religions continue the trend of creating texts and standards for their believers and how to treat each other according to the tenets of their faith.
