 “When people ask me what philosophy is, I usually get extremely uncomfortable and want to go hide” - a nice overview of the branches by Curtis Brown of Trinity College.

From Philosophy Bites – What Is Philosophy – where they asked a number of interviewees the question and collated them in one podcast.

The Philosophy Now Radio Show #20 has a similar discussion with a number of philosophers, on “What is Philosophy”, which also includes a discussion on starting philosophy organisations.

From Philosopher’s Zone – Who do you have to be to be a philosopher? – a short overview of some of the issues with different philosophy disciplines and also from the Philosopher’s Zone radio and podcast – Philosophy 101.

Finally, Philosophy for Beginners features a very useful overview of philosophy from pre-Socratic to the present day (along with other lectures).
