情书

（沈从文写给张兆和的情书）

Youth fades day by day,

一个白日带走了一点青春，

Though what we had in my memory can not beerased,

日子虽不能毁坏我印象里你所给我的光阴，

Still it makes me different gradually.

却慢慢的使我不同了。

A girl in the poet’s verse,

一个女子在诗人的诗中，

Shall ever live young,

永远不会老去，

But he himself ages.

但诗人他自己却老去了。

I think about it,

我想到这些，

And tarried.

我十分犹豫了。

Life is too thin,

生命是太脆薄的一种东西，

which withers more than a flower againstthe days,

并不比一株花更经得住年月风雨，

With an eye for nature,

用对自然倾心的眼，

Look at our lives.

反观人生。

I can’t help but feel cherished of passion,

使我不能不觉得热情的可珍，

On the same person and same thing,

在同一人事上，

Coincidence just happens once.

第二次的凑巧是不会有的。

I have only seen the full moon once in mylife.

我生平只看过一回满月。

And I comforted myself,

我也安慰自己过，

I told myself,

我说：

I have crossed bridges in many places,

我行过许多地方的桥，

I have seen clouds for many times,

看过许多次数的云，

I have drunk wine of many kinds,

喝过许多种类的酒，

But only loved one girl who was in her bestage.

却只爱过一个正当最好年龄的人。

故事背景：

      1930年7月张兆和与沈从文在胡适的办公室第一次见面，刚见面时，胡校长大夸沈从文是天才，是中国小说家中最有希望的。张兆和却不以为然，沈从文对张兆和的爱恋来的很慢，却一发不可收拾。沈从文写给她的情书一封接一封，延绵不绝的表达着心中的倾慕。在1931年6月的一封信中，他以做张兆和的奴隶为己任。他说，多数人愿意仆伏在君王的脚下做奴隶，但他只愿做张兆和的奴隶。沈从文最终打动了张兆和，于1933年9月9日在北京中央公园成婚。
