Bleeding in the 2nd trimester can be frightening—especially when you thought you were “past the danger zone.”
If you notice spotting or bleeding between 13 and 27 weeks of pregnancy, it’s normal to feel scared and unsure of what to do next. In this episode, Dr. Tiffany Woodus, board-certified OB-GYN, breaks down the most common causes of second-trimester bleeding, explains what symptoms need urgent medical attention, and helps you understand when to call your OB provider versus when to go straight to the hospital.
This episode is designed to educate and empower—not to panic you. Some causes of bleeding are mild and manageable, while others require immediate care. You’ll learn about cervical causes, infections, placenta-related conditions, signs of preterm labor, and clear red flags you should never ignore. Most importantly, you’ll walk away feeling more informed, grounded, and confident advocating for yourself and your baby.
⚠️ Important note:
This video is for educational purposes only and does not replace care from your own OB provider. Dr. Woodus is an OB-GYN, but she is not your OB-GYN. If you are experiencing bleeding, pain, or concerning symptoms, please contact your obstetric provider or seek emergency care right away.
