37. Mentor Relationships in Professional Development with Professor Dean

Listen Later

Ep.37 (Part 3) of Mentor Relationships on the State of RE Podcast with Prof. DEAN

First we intro with an interview with Crazy Rich Asian actress Constance Wu who shares about her journey about being true to yourself as an artist. Remixed with Yuna  - Come as you are.

Then we dive into the Mentor Relationship Tree section of  Peer mentors:

We identify 3 types of Peer Mentors below:

1.) The Professional Peer Mentor – someone who may or may not be in your field, but is likeminded, and willing to bounce ideas and work with you. Some one who is good at their profession, and has these qualities and core values as you do:

  • Work ethic
  • Integrity
  • Lifestyle

2.) The Mirror Peer Mentor  - someone you can count on to be honest and real with you. You may not always like it, but you can count on this Peer Mentor to be honest and share true feedback and constructive criticism with you.

3.) The Reverse Peer Mentor – someone can share and teach you about Generation Knowledge and Gentelligence. Age ain’t nothing but a number. Learn from peers who are younger then you, someone who gives you insight, (mentoring doesn’t always mean age, more so experience, and collective passion and interest)
