The volleyball playoffs are winding down. Lafayette swept past Pontotoc to earn a return trip to the Class 5A final (1:44), while West Union handled Tupelo Christian to advance in 1A (2:27). Five area teams in all will play in the finals on Thursday and Friday in Clinton (3:38), including Ingomar, which is seeking a third straight title.

On the gridiron, Tupelo pulled off a huge comeback last week against Madison Central (5:20), and Itawamba AHS got big plays from Bryson Walters in a win over Amory (8:49).

Looking ahead to Week 8, Hatley visits East Union in a Region 1-2A showdown (9:57); Booneville meets Mantachie in a battle for first place in 1-3A (11:04); and Tupelo hits the road to face Germantown (11:52).
