Former UN Secretary-General Kofi Annan, who in 2002 was honoured with the highest traditional title in the Asante Kingdom by Asantehene Otumfuor Osei Tutu II, is expected to be given a state burial and funeral rite typical of that of Asante Kings.
Asante historian, Osei Bonsu Sarfo Kantanka, has been speaking to Onua 91.5FM on why it is “a must” for the international diplomat, who was bestowed with the title “Busumuru” be given that honorous burial and funeral rite by the Asante Kingdom.
Annan died last Saturday in Bern, Switzerland at the age of 80 following a short illness.
