June 05, 2015Dream Chasers - Don't You Ever QuitCall yo neighbors, call yo mama an'em. Our Guest is the author of the Black Heroine Novels Black Nancy Book I and Book II, Lennox "OX" Nelson. There are times when it appears our DREAMS are just that, dreams. We want them so bad but no matter how much we want them and no matter how hard we try they are still so far away.Or so they seem. "OX" had his dream come true, then his division I football career at Notre Dame was taken from him in a brutal attack. But that was his dream. The creator had something bigger and more impactful for him. I'm here to tell you your dreams are real. Believing IS seeing. Everything that exists today started with a dream, a thought. sometimes we select a path to our dream that the creator doesn't want you to take so he'll take your plans away and give you a path that will prepare you to handle the dream when you get there. Many things I experience today was only a dream when I was a child. You have to keep your dreams alive because when your dream dies it dies in you and dead things tend to stink and smell. When your dreams die your personality begins to stink because your dream is what gives you energy and life. Don't give up on your dreams because the path has changed. You are the Game Changers. We're gonna help you with that today....more2h 5minPlay
May 01, 2015Those Baltimore Thugs, Really?I hear all too often the question "What does Africa & Black history have to do with what we do today?" I always hesitate. How do you explain a process to someone who believes they live in a bubble only affected by what happens today?I explain that I have a scar over my right eye because a guy sucker punched me one day as I was walking home from school. Now I am always aware when someone walks up on me from behind. Police self report domestic violence at the rate of 40% of ALL domestic violence reports.Their spouses are deathly afraid to report because...In a nationwide survey of 123 police departments, 45% had no specific policy for dealing with officer-involved domestic violence. http://www.purpleberets.org/violence_police_families.html Where were all of these people who call Black children thugs and criminals when the students at Kentucky University rioted in the streets for the 2nd year in a row. http://www.dailykos.com/story/2015/04/05/1375772/-Riots-Looting-Fires-Break-Out-in-Kentucky-Don-t-Worry-It-s-Mostly-White-Kids# Kentucky fans rioted because they lost a basketball game. Baltimore youth rioted because another black man was paralyzed and died while in police custody for the second time. Pastor Jamal Bryant brought the Bloods and the Crips together this past Sunday with the Nation of Islam and a Christian Church in peace to address and create a plan to overcome the systemic issue of domestic violence on the black male. Did Fox, NBC, ABC or CBS report that breaking news? NO!...more2h 3minPlay
March 06, 2015C.R. Gibbs: "How Have Blacks Done Things For 500,000 Years?"Hosted by Historian C.R. Gibbs "How Have Blacks Done Things For 500,000 Years?" Is There a Difference Between Black and African American?Learning how Blacks have done things for 500,000 years will go a long way to explaining why we do what we do today. I used to get confused between being Black and being African American. Is there a difference? I used to think I had to choose. I am physically and genetically who I am. I don't get to choose who my ancestors are. it's not a decision. What happened and the quicker we accept it the quicker we can stand in our own glory and stop borrowing other people's truth. What is an African American? Someone who identifies with their connection to Africa but has accepted their current citizenship as their home. They are integrated and an American who has a heritage based in Africa. That's a decision and not necessarily who they are. A peach can call itself an apple but that doesn't change the fuzz. What is Black? Being Black is acknowledging the entire global community of color that has family origins that trace back to the continent of Africa as one people. There are blacks all over the globe and not just in America just as there are Asians across the globe and Europeans. The differences that appear are all cultural, it's how they do things....more2h 2minPlay
