Listen Later

Hey sis, This episode is all about navigating the creative industry and questioning what it truly means to be a ‘creative’. You can find both Olamide Ajisafe & Goldie Quaker on Instagram/Twitter @lami.live and @goldiequaker, and be sure to subscribe to Lami Live on Youtube and listen in to Goldie on RinseFM Monday to Thursday from 8am-10am. Also, follow BWP on Twitter @bwpsouthampton & @blackwomensproj, and on Instagram @bwpsouthampton & @theblackwomensproject.

Here are some journal prompts to help you figure out whether the creative industry is for you, and how to excel in it:

  • What do you enjoy?
  • What inspires you and where does your inspiration come from?
  • What motivates you? What are 3 things you need to do to stay resilient and determined?
  • In an industry with many big personalities and a lot of competition, write down different ways in which you are going to feed your confidence. What qualities to do you love about yourself?
  • Think about how you are going to maximise these qualities when navigating the creative industry. What makes you stand out? How are you going to add your personal touch to what you want to do?
  • How are you going to encourage inspiration and avoid imitation?
  • How are you going to leave a long-lasting impression on the people you want to work with? What do you need to start doing in order to take control of your own dreams?
  • You don’t always need a yes from others because you can make it yourself e.g., start that podcast, YouTube channel, write that play etc.
