Kon Apostolopoulos: “The child inside us deserves our love, care, and attention. I liken it to the fact that I would never tell my daughter to do the things that I tell myself to do. I would never push her that way, demand those kinds of things or talk to her in the way I've talked to myself at times. When you serve love and care at the table of life, pull up a chair for yourself, and save a portion for you.
In the darkest moments, we tend to isolate and shut ourselves out from those who care about us. None of us is as smart as all of us and from that perspective we can benefit. What makes us different is part of what makes us special and unique. We need both of those dynamics for our teams, families, environments, and our organizations to be able to be successful. None of us is going to be as successful as all of us.
I experience life. Not just the positives. I don't sort things out and only look for the positive highlights. My social media feed isn’t filtered, it has the storms and the rainbows after those storms.
Life is experienced in those areas where the storm clouds and the light meet. Where the good and the bad collide. There is no rainbow without a storm. The blessings mean more when we've been through adversity. Those are the events that really shape us. When we've experienced loss, the gain is so much sweeter.
The more we can embrace that adversity, we can see that it's a way for us to grow. We don't have to wait for those storms to pass. We don't have to delay life and put it on hold. We can adapt to life and learn how to dance in the rain.”
