In this week’s episode of THE WINDOW: Sports betting podcast, Matt Russell (@mrussauthentic) it’s more about celebrating (Seahawks-Cardinals) AND commiserating (MNF games) than one side or the other, after a mix-and-match weekend in both college football and the NFL.

The Jets give away a winnable game, while the Bengals prove they might be worse than we ever thought possible, with or without Joe Burrow. 

In “Right or Wrong,” Matt goes back to last Thursday night to discuss the interesting market moves of the opening game in each week of the early NFL season. 

Special teams plays went the wrong way in Eagles-Buccaneers and Browns-Lions. Then the Rams got a lucky cover, only to see the Raiders give that right back with a brutal effort in a winnable game with the Bears. 

Then, Matt breaks down a pair of bad beats with Pittsburgh +4.5 and South Alabama +13 in the first losing “Saturday 7” of the season. In the big games, Illinois, Oregon, and Ole Miss all covered and won, while Georgia and Washington couldn’t make the one play needed to. 

Finally, in the “Heisman Report,” the bad news is that one of our preseason bets — John Mateer (+2500) — that became the favorite for the award has to miss time with a thumb injury. How much time will determine whether his revised odds are “correct.” The good news? The new favorite — Dante Moore — is also someone we bet on before the season. Why the award may be won in a quasi-tournament within the Big Ten.

Lastly, there will be a new feature at THE WINDOW for the upcoming NHL season. Matt teases what that might look like for 2025-‘26.
