Our goal in this series is to bring you carefully considered and biblically meaningful devotionals to help you develop a daily habit of bible reading and prayer - in under 5 minutes a day!  

That may sound like a challenging goal.  When is the last time you heard a preacher talk less than 5 minutes?  Well, I'm happy to report that today's devotional clocks in at four minutes and 24 seconds!   So far, so good!  :-)

Our reading today is 1 Peter 1:1-2.  In the New Testament covenant of grace, when we are born again through a living faith in Jesus Christ, Peter says that we are sealed into a special agreement with God by the sacrifice (I.e. ‘the blood’) that Jesus freely gave for us when he allowed Himself to be unfairly murdered upon the cross of Calvary so that we would not have to die for our sins.

This episode kicks off a 20-day series of devotionals based on the book of 1 Peter!

The devotionals in this series will never be longer than 5 minutes.  That's my pledge of efficiency to you!  :-)

To get us started, in our first devotional, I'll go over some context and historical background of this powerful book of the Bible.  I know that might not sound too very exciting but I'll do my best to make it as "quick and painless" as possible!  ;-)

The recipients of this book were going through some very hard times and Peter had many important and encouraging things to tell them.

2020 and early 2021 have been challenging to many of us as well.  Of course, we aren't facing the same exact difficulties that the people in Asia minor endured back in the first century.  Even so, the same timeless truths which blessed and encouraged them to persevere in their faith are very applicable as encouragements for me and you as we face our own unique challenges today!
