In this episode we are joined by Filipino (Kapampangan) - Kiwi, Creative Superstar, Marianne Infante. Marianne has made history in the Performing Arts by writing and starring in the first Tagalog speaking theatre show Pinay (2019) as well as writing and starring in the first Kapampangan speaking short film called Mekeni (2021). She stars as Madonna in NZ's longest running TV Series Drama on Shortland St and helps run two successful production companies called Proudly Asian Theatre and Te & Kuya Collaborative.
Marianne shares her experience on what it's like to feel the privilege and pressure on highlighting Filipino stories on NZ screens as well as how she manages the negativity that comes with the spotlight.
She gives her hindsight on the amount of hustle it took to get to where she is now and how she manages her work/life balance and what practical advice she'd give to up and coming talent.
