I remember feeling fearful as I watched my young children start to explore their bodies. I didn’t want to create shame around their sexuality, but I didn’t know how to handle the situation. The more I’ve learned about this topic, the more I understand that self-touch is a natural part of a child’s development and can be handled in simple ways that align with my beliefs around masturbation. Coming from a faith tradition where masturbation is not encouraged, I wanted to bring someone on who could help parents learn to handle these situations in a sex positive way while also staying true to their personal beliefs.
