Have you ever been fearful of sharing about Jesus with someone you know? We live in a culture that believes in keeping religious convictions outside of everyday life. However; Jesus builds His church through His people's witness and proclamation of the gospel. The story of Paul in Corinth gives us some helpful encouragment as we see how God is soverign over Paul's attempts to live and speak the gospel. God is still soverign today with our efforts.

Acts 17 tells of Paul traveling to Athens and speaking at Mars Hill. This interaction serves as a model for how Paul interacted with the gentile world in that he affirmed that they were looking for the right things, but could only find the good, true, and beautiful in the person and work of Jesus Christ.

In this sermon, we observe how two cities responded to the good news of Jesus preached by Paul, Silas, and Timothy. In both cities there were people who responded with faith, but in Berea they examined the words of Paul by the Word of God. This earned them the title of "noble" according to Luke. When people respond to God's word with humility and interest, God gives the gift of faith, and begins to build His Church.

Acts 16 contains the story of Paul, Silas, and Timothy planting the church in Philipi. God soverignly guided His missionaries to bring the good news to Lydia, a prison guard, and even set a young girl free from demon possession. God used these people to build up His household of faith into a church which would stand out like stars among the night sky in the Roman colony of Philipi. God still uses His church to make and mature disciples of Jesus today. Let this story encourage you to remain faithful as God always remains faithful to His work.

Acts 15 describes the first of the church councils in which clarity is brought concerning the topic of Gentiles and Jews interacting with one another. The confusion comes in the role of circumcision, would it still be required for gentiles who are converting to Christianity? What was the role of the O.T. customs for the N.T. church? The apostles, elders, and church come together and are guided by scripture and the Spirit.

Acts 13 tells of the first missionary journey of Paul and Barnabas. Their message was recieved with joy by some and spite by others. This sermon shows how Paul and Barnabas gave the answer of what to do with guilt.

Humanity has always had the proclivity to pursue and protect our own kingdom rather than live for God's Kingdom. This story illustrates whose kingdom will last and which King protects His people. The Kingdom of God gives life and last forever, man's kingdom will end in death and destruction. Choose wisely.

Act 10 contains the story of Peter interacting with a Roman Centurion named Cornelius. This story shows us that the Holy Spirit is available to all those who fear and call on the name of Jesus as their Lord.

The Apostle Paul had his life changed on the road to Damascus. The Holy Spirit revealed to him the living Jesus Christ, and at that moment Paul served a new Lord. This is Paul's testimony.

This chapter of Acts tells of the ministry of Phillip to those surrounding Jerusalem, even those in North Africa. The Spirit is described as guiding the process by which Phillip preaches and proclaimes the risen Christ and teaches through the Bible.
