The story of Jeona Maurh (Jeona Morh | ਜਿਉਣਾ ਮੌੜ) remains etched in the minds of Panjabis across borders. He started off as a simple and religious young man whose deeds of crime and social banditry are recorded and recounted in folklore -festivals, folk tales, and folk songs - of Panjab. The name of Jeona Maurh remains synonymous with revenge and honour. The ballads of his exploits and his final undoing when he goes to pay obeisance to Mata Naina Devi have been sung by many eminent Punjabi singers.
