The European Union has amended the Radio Equipment Directive 2014/53/EU. The amendment requires all hand-held mobile phones, tablets, digital cameras, headphones, headsets, handheld videogame consoles, and portable speakers capable of wired charge must have a USB-C charger by 2024. Even for non-EU residents, this will likely mean USB-C becoming a global standard for these devices.
