EPISODE HIGHLIGHTS:
1. Managing remote work
Communication has become an essential ingredient to effectively manage remote work. In Anita’s organization, Slack software was adapted to manage team communication and collaboration. The software’s superior technology and the brilliant team allowed smoothly transitioning communication over to Slack without any human intervention. Moreover, the platform easily integrated with other apps and services that the team was already using on a daily basis such as Google calendar, Jira, and more tools. Likewise, the organization adapted Mettl software to ease the hiring process of the organization. The software helped the organization with initial sourcing and shortlisting of the candidates through online skill assessment tests and tools which ultimately saved a lot of bandwidth for the organisation’s interviewers. Anita feels that adopting a good digital communication channel or tool is fundamental to help a business survive in the new reality of remote work.
2. Things remote work taught to professionals
Anita talks about how the concept of work-life integration has truly come into play due to remote working. The transition to remote work has blurred out work-life boundaries. Now, professionals can flexibly work around their personal life. For instance, they can take short breaks at any moment to spend time with their loved ones. Additionally, working from home has also made it easier for a professional’s family to understand its job better. Likewise, remote working has also accelerated technological advancements. For professionals, it has become crucial to embrace new technology to work efficiently and stay relevant in the constantly evolving and changing world of technology. Overall remote work has taught us to be more humble and grateful.
3. Biggest challenges for the HR
Finding the best talent has been the biggest HR challenge. Anita discusses how accessing the right tech talent for her organization has been the toughest HR challenge she ever faced in her 16 years career. Businesses are facing a talent crisis and a global war of talent in the marketplace due to the COVID-caused delays.
Anita feels that a long-term talent management strategy is required to effectively address this HR challenge. Although a robust campus to cooperate with national-level efforts is helpful to deal with this issue, it requires a mindset, readiness, and investment in the skill development program to train college talent to make them viable candidates.
