I mean, it's not, but we pull our ideas for fiction from the reality. We as in writers, of course. Even readers read books from the perspective of someone who lives in this world. In the real world. That's why we often assume intelligent creatures in fantasy or science fiction are so human-like unless otherwise stated. But this isn't just about that. It's also about staying on track with your story idea. Knowing what you want to message your readers is important, and it's about that, too.
