#45: I'd feel bad selling umbrellas in the rain
I share how uncomfortable I feel promoting my online learning business for the swinger lifestyle, even though I’m proud of the courses and believe they genuinely help people. After trying to respond to direct requests for advice in places like Reddit and Facebook groups, I got warnings for “self-promotion,” which made me feel like I’m holding the solution but I’m not allowed to share it unless I pay for ads. I also talk about a negative YouTube comment accusing my content of becoming too promotional, and how frustrating that is after making nearly a thousand free videos and multiple free podcasts while still needing to make a living. I draw boundaries with fans in person, consider paid advertising instead of hard-selling, and discuss behind-the-scenes business hurdles like banking awkwardness and Stripe rejecting me as a payment processor.
