When you're applying for a job, if you list "perfectionism" as one of your skills on your resume, you might be considered the "ideal candidate", we pride ourselves on being perfect. But perfectionism is an unattainable ideal that stops us from being the best version of ourselves and from creating the life of our dreams.
When we choose perfectionism, we are saying "no" to our realness, rawness, authenticity, uniqueness, humanness and vulnerability. What even is "perfect"? If your ideal of perfection and mine are totally different, there is no true "perfection". Our BEST self is the real and authentic version of who we TRULY are, at the core of our being. Showing up in the world as "perfect" is a distraction from who we truly are. It causes us to be "fake", it causes our relationships to lack depth and meaning. It sacrifices real experiences.
If you wait until you are perfect or until your life is perfect to start dating, to go to the gym, to start your dream business, to write a book, etc. You will wait your whole life. You won't ever be perfect, your life won't ever be perfect, but it can be REAL.
