49ers Goldmine | NFL Rants & Raves

Happy days are here again in The City. Despite getting no love from the schedule makers the team again found themselves heading back east. This time it was to our nation’s capital to visit the Washington Redskins. Though the guys acknowledge that it was not the prettiest of wins, they reject the notion of ugly […]

Life in the 49ers Goldmine couldn’t look prettier and shinier as the team now sits at 6-1. In a division where seven wins will likely be enough to win — it may be too early to pop champagne, there remains plenty of reason to be giddy. Coming off a very important win over those horrible […]

Steven and Jeff look at back at the 49ers huge victory in Week 5 as they steamroll the Buccaneers 48-3. The guys liked the 49ers to win by double digits, but by 45? No way. The 49ers defense was all over the Josh Freeman setup their offense nicely throughout the day. After Alex Smith was […]

The guys RAVE about the remarkable come from behind win and the further humiliation of the Dream Team. The 49ers 24-23 victory came by scoring 21 unanswered points in the 3rd and 4th quarters and even showcased (briefly), Turlock’s very own Colin Kaepernick making his NFL debut. Frank Gore stepped it up BIG after being […]

The guys recap a great 13-08 road win over the Cincinnati Bengals. Playing in front of the smallest home crowd since 1981 when they played at Riverfront Stadium the good guys won. Steven takes a swipe at rookie head coach, Jim Harbaugh for failure to throw the challenge flag on the Michael Crabtree touchdown in […]

The guys take some time to reflect on Sunday’s nail-biter vs. the Cowboys. Jeff shows a photo he took that shows that the Red Out was strong, but also showing too many Cowboy fans and empty seats. The guys say it was one of the most thrilling games of the weekend but unfortunately it found […]

The guys dissect the Week 1, 33-17 victory over the Seahawks and are glad that Ted Ginn Jr. was there to save the day. Ginn becomes the 1st 49er to return a kickoff and punt for TDs in the same game. Coach Jim Harbaugh believes the team is being slighted in the highlights as he […]

After bringing in Josh McCown, the 49ers decided to go another way as the cut the QB and head into the season with only 2 QBs in Alex Smith and Colin Kaepernick. Jeff has a feeling about how long the 49ers will give Smith to lead the team. In another move, the team cut center […]

Matt Maiocco of Comcast SportsNet Bay Area joins Steven and Jeff to discuss the San Francisco 49ers. Matt covers the Michael Crabtree violation, Alex Smith not playing much in the 30-7 loss to Houston, the battle at the center position and the final preseason game versus the San Diego Chargers.

The guys make a disappointing trip down memory lane by looking back on the week three pre-season game agains the Houston Texans. Steven (fondly) remembers the only good play of the game for the Niners while Jeff wonders (very loudly) about the intentions of rookie Head Coach, Jim Harbaugh‘s decision to use QB Alex Smith […]
