Sofie Formica spoke with listener Maureen, who has made an urgent public plea for O Negative male platelet donors to help save her daughter-in-law, who is battling a blood cancer and a rare blood disease. 

Lifeblood Australia spokesperson Anya Tandon confirmed the urgent need, explaining that due to an antibody risk, only male donors are asked to give platelets regardless of blood type.
