Two proposals supported by Justice for Palestine JFP rally at Speakers Corner in Brisbane Magand-jin on 12 February 2026

The rally resolved to :

Collect signups to the JFP mailing list and send a cheat sheet on how to complete a submission to the Queensland Parliament opposing the proposed draconian laws (as soon as possible to enable submissions by 27 Feb 2026).

Encourage and coordinate unions, faith groups, community organizations, student unions, journalists, academics, and lawyers to prepare and submit written submissions to the Queensland Parliament opposing the proposed laws.

The Home Affairs Minister can list organizations as prohibited hate groups via an administrative process. The aim is to:

Tie activists up in legal processes and costs

Deter participation in protests

Silence dissent and allow a dominant zionist anti-semitismnarrative to prevail.

The Australian government passed the 2026 Combating Anti-Semitism, Hate and Extremism, (Criminal and Migration) Laws with LNP support. The laws enable a politicized administrative process to declare “prohibited hate groups,” with no judicial review, and make it an offense to be an officer, director, member, recruiter, trainer, fundraiser, or supporter of such groups, carrying up to 10 years’ imprisonment (up to 15 in certain cases).

A 2025 UN Commission of Inquiry found Israel committed genocide, crimes against humanity, and war crimes in Gaza. Includes speech by Chris Sidoti one of the judges on the commission of inquiry.

However six Palestinian civil society groups were labeled terrorist, one unlawful. Concerns include targeting pro-Palestinian groups, visa holders, and possible use of ASIO recommendations; no sunset clauses or appeals; NSW/QLD/WA may ban “globalize the Intifada” and “from the river to the sea.”

Uncle Dale Ruska (Stradbroke Island/Yuggerra) framed Australia as a crime scene, tracing colonial violence from Cook’s 1770 observations of Aboriginal fires and the false British claim of terra nullius through military incursions led by Oxley. He recounted the murder of an elder on Minjerribah and Ulipi’s retaliation, the Battle of Big Creek (Anugoray), the Moreton Island massacre, atrocities at Point Lookout, and the “blood-stained sands” at Kanai.

Situating these events within 65,000 years of First Nations sovereignty, he connected historical violence to contemporary injustice, citing the 1991 Royal Commission into Aboriginal Deaths in Custody (with hundreds of recommendations unimplemented and at least 600 subsequent deaths), the failed 'Voice ' referendum, Queensland’s repeal of the Pathways to Treaty bill, and the Bondi massacre. He condemned mining and the removal of aboriginal and Palestinian flags, and called for an independent First Nations-led inquiry, justice reinvestment, and decolonization.

A Palestinian man appeared in court for a protest-related offence involving a tripod device used to block access to Ferra Engineering. The incident occurred on November 10, 2025, and involved 16 protesters. Police and emergency services him from blocking weapons part going to Israel's genocide in Gaza, causing minor disruption and economic loss. The man's only previous recorded engagement with the law in 2024 was dissimilar. The court considered a fine of $900, reflecting the early guilty plea, but no conviction was recorded.

The magistrate emphasized the importance of peaceful protests and adhering to Australian laws, highlighting the need for community integration and respect for local values. The remainder of his sermon was entirely bizaare.

4PR: Could you please be more specific?

Yvette Cooper: Certainly. On 20 June 2025, activists from Palestine Action broke into RAF Brize Norton, a major Royal Air Force base in Oxfordshire, and vandalised two Voyager tanker aircraft, used for air-to-air refuelling, by spraying red paint into their engines and using crowbars.
