Boing Boing (or Boingas) are Rock'n'Roll band hailing from Far North Queensland and currently based in the Gold Coast. They’re into Australiana, rugby league and rock'n'roll. On the 4th of May 2024 they put their hand up to open for The Radium Dolls at The Zoo for the Dolls’ ‘Legal Speed’ album tour. We recorded all of the bands who performed that evening and this set from Boing Boing is the first cab off the rank.

Knee:

Live at the Bearded Lady, West End, 9th February 2024

Knee is a Meanjin/Brisbane rock'n'roll powerhouse on their opening leg of their career. Sharing members with local eggy punk band Midgee, Knee are a live experience akin to seeing Motörhead performing before they blew up. We caught Knee on tape at The Bearded Lady in West End supporting Metdog with Midgee on the 9th of February 2024.

Performing live at The Princess Theatre, Woolloongabba, on the 28th of December 2023

This week on Live Delay we feature Meanjin-Brisbane rock n roll icon Ed Kuepper's performance at the Princess Theatre in Woolloongabba on the 28th of December 2023. Co-founder of the Saints, Laughing Clowns and the Aints!, he was also featured on Live Delay episode 404 and 405 playing alongside the Queensland Symphony Orchestra at The Tivoli in November of 2020. Besides his prolific punk rock and post-punk work with larger bands, he has released over twelve solo albums of his own, winning the Best Independent Release ARIA award for 1993's Black Ticket Day and 1994's Serene Machine. In this performance, Kuepper revisits some of his greatest works live at The Princess Theatre.

Perry Street Park:

Live at Lazy Days Festival, The Zoo, Fortitude Valley, 3 June 2023

Perry Street Park are a Meanjin-Brisbane based pop-rock band that crystallised around sessions with Benny Nelson around 2018. After a long time working on material during the COVID-19, Nelson announced the formation of Perry Street Park at a live show supporting Paul Kelly in 2021, the full lineup consisting of Benny Nelson, Sebastian 'Baz' Jennings-Hingston, Ryan Brook and Harry Shakespeare. As Perry Street Park they've released five singles and one EP, three of those singles released in 2023 and that could only mean this is their best year yet. This episode features Perry Street Park performing live at Lazy Days festival at the Zoo in Fortitude Valley.

Greg Charles & The Ex-Catholics:

Greg Charles is a Toowoomba-born songwriter with about 20 years of experience on the scene in SE QLD, he's been a member of Blonde Cobra and 6Majik9, earned the first Grant McLennan fellowship awarded in 2007 and released a solo album 'Rough Music' in 2016. The Ex-Catholics are his band and consist of Dylan Jeffries on bass, Alexander 'Sleepy Morrison' on drums and Sky McNicol on violin, they've previously played in support of Ed Kuepper and Jim White.

Terra Pines:

Performing live at the Triffid for Sonic Masala Fest on the 12th of August 2023

Terra Pines are a grungegaze/sludgepop miasma of genres formed in Meanjin around 2015. They've released seven singles and two albums since formation and they remain intent on an ever-shifting shoegaze-heavy pop music laden with effects and rock riffs.
