Kashief Booley is a Prince Albert-based blacksmith and metal artist behind Striking Metal Blacksmith Forge at Karoo Souk. Practising blacksmithing in Prince Albert since around 2007, he combines traditional tools and techniques with modern equipment to create everything from hooks and door knockers to gates, tables, chandeliers and other architectural pieces. His work connects an old-school craft built around fire, hammer, anvil and raw metal with contemporary design and practical use.

Local historian and artist whose work draws deeply on the town’s indigenous heritage, preserving and reinterpreting local stories, identity and culture through art.

Souk Café is more than a place to grab a coffee. Located on the outskirts of Prince Albert with views of the surrounding Karoo landscape, the café serves coffee, breakfast, lunch, fresh juices, smoothies and snacks while visitors explore the creative spaces around it. With weaving and blacksmithing taking place nearby, the café forms part of the wider Karoo Souk experience, connecting food, craft, creativity and the unique setting of the Karoo.

Majafi saw a growing need to support vulnerable children and families living with poverty, hunger and unemployment in her community.

Her original vision: To create a safe and dependable place where vulnerable residents could receive food and practical support.

Her role today: She oversees the centre, helps sustain the garden, coordinates community support and works with partners to keep the project operating.
