We are joined by Dr David Tlale and two emerging creatives from the David Tlale Academy: Lindiwe Rorwanawho specialises in, and Paulinah Masalane. The Academy teaches practical skills including textile development, patternmaking, garment construction, production and entrepreneurship. But what does that training actually look like for the young people inside it?

Dr Nomhle Ngwenya became the youngest person to earn a PhD in Wits University’s Faculty of Science, completing it at 25. She also became the first Black woman at Wits to progress directly from an honours degree into a PhD.
