When I first started coaching many years ago, I worked with a lot of time and energy deprived people. They’d say, Kathy, how do I find more time in the day? How do I find more energy? The best thing I and many other coaches advised was for these very busy people to learn how to say no. Say no to the good so they could say yes to the great things they really wanted to do. No became the default response for getting through the day. Yet some people still found it hard to say no.
Nowadays, however, I find myself coaching people to say yes--with a difference. Don’t say yes just to appease someone else. Say yes to the things that light up your life. Say yes to the opportunities that make you smile. Say yes to the people who bring you joy. Say yes to letting love in. When you say yes to the things that you value and put a priority on, you can more easily figure out what you need to say no to.
Listen in as I talk about saying yes and how I got some sage advice from a shuttle bus driver in Florida.
