The loneliness pandemic is rife - amongst all generations. Particularly the elderly feel it hard. In China, a “loneliness economy" is emerging.
Wang Yingwei employs a team of 4 scooter drivers who are paid hourly to be “temporary children”. They go to the elderly’s houses to help with basic chores, deliver groceries and just hang out with them.
Many of their clients report feeling much better with this service.
Goodreads has introduced half and quarter stars
And we are here for the specificity! How were we supposed to cope with only being able to give 3 stars? 3 and a half feels that much better!
Her boyfriend got mad because she has a “work-husband”. He knows that she made this friend at work and yeah, they are tight and people in the office refer to them as work-wife and work-husband. Is it harmless?
It’s gotten to the point where it feels like every second word could be a swear word. It just feels so good!
Apparently there’s research around swearing being good, including increasing your pain tolerance.
It does also short circuit your brain into survival mode though.

Jodell and Kirsten try and express big emotions with no swearing.
At a tourist site in China, they have installed digital timers on top of
the stores. It displays a green “empty” or a red timer showing how
long you have been in.
This is supposedly to cope with a higher amount of tourists at this
particular site. Despite surveillance not being the reason, users and
people on the internet are saying it does feel like it.
One person asked, “Why not just use the money to build more
toilets?”
A user said she found it embarrassing. Like she was being
monitored.
She wants to move out of home which would mean more freedom but would also
mean giving her parents less money at the end of the month...
Jodell and Kirsten have covered a famous pop song.
Will it get your support?
Selma Blair, an actress best known for her role as Vivian Kingston in
Legally Blonde, has been arrested for assault of at least two crew
members.
She has pleaded not guilty because, although she did do it, she said
she had taken medication and had alcohol and the mix made her
aggressive.
But, she does have a history of alcohol issues. In her 2022 memoir,
she wrote about having bitten certain celebrities after having
alcohol.
So this begs the question, if she knows she has a problem, why
does she keep doing it? Surely this is damning evidence against her
plea of not guilty?
