This week on the pod the boys get caught up on everything that’s been going on. A phenomenal wedding, a new home for Neek, and the opening of Soho House Portland got the boys busy busy. Fire it up and let’s get caught up.
This week is being treated like a national holiday in the podcast. It’s been years in the making and Dawn Perignon (@dawn_perignon) joins us for an unforgettable chat! Dawn highlights her experiences on Twitch through the pandemic up until now, the potential increase in monetization and the adjustment of djing IRL. We ramble through a quick battle of The Cars vs The Go-Go’s and talk about Dawn’s roots in the dj world and accompanying her metal bar owning mom to work at a young age. We had an absolute blast sitting down for this chat and highly encourage you to keep up with Dawn online and beyond.
This week we have the quickest return guest ever, Six Flags Music ambassador and all around badass Jayda Abello (@americansquirm) is back to chop it up with the boys. We talk Record Store Day, the overabundance of vinyl variants, and everything else we didn’t get to cover on her last visit. Jayda is honorary member status on the pod so make sure you drop her a follow and stay up to date with her radio show and IRL gigs.
We couldn’t think of a great caption for this episode so please just go listen, thank you - mgmt
After what seems like FOREVER of a hiatus (we were workin work, ok? Lol) the boys are back. Diddy! A new Beyoncé album! New clubs! along with so so so much more make for another off the rails episode. Fire it up!
We don’t throw around the term LEGENDARY just here and there but with a guest like BOT (@bot106) we felt the honor of being amongst one of the greats. From the blog era days co producing in Crookers to his solo career and mixing and mastering for major acts in dance music, we tried to cover it all. Not much more is needed for a description, the honor was all ours. Fire it up!
How much time do we have to talk about how great NICKFRESH (@nickfreshalive) is? The Soul Train historian joined us for a Grammy adjacent battle of Taylor Swift vs Beyoncé and the results were a blast. We don’t want to spoil this episode with a long winded caption about everything we covered but instead we want to give Nick the flowers he deserves. It’s always special when we can have these conversations that feel like talking with family and Nick will always hold an honorary seat on the show anytime he wants to join us. Part 2 sooner than later, but for now, enjoy our conversation with the legendary NICKFRESH.
This week the boys ramble down to Florida to sit in with national treasure Jayda Abello (@americansquirm). The show leads off with lots of vinyl talk turning back the dial to Jayda’s record collecting history before we dive into an on the spot battle between Jennifer Lopez vs Christina Aquilera. We dive into a rabbit hole of “Six Flags Music” before considering if it’s possible to break the records of a major artist. All this and so so much more. Fire it up!
This week on the pod Neek and PHNM sit down with Victoria Rawlins (@rawvictoria) for an in depth chat on her career and unexpected opportunity as host of Dirtybird Radio. We dive deep into a hardfelt battle of CBGB veterans Talking Heads vs Blondie and rip through a lightning round in record time! We dive deeper into the sounds that inspire Victoria and explore what that process is on the production side of things. We wanted to make sure to give Victoria her flowers as a fellow vinyl lover and we think this episode is perfect for our fellow vinyl nerds to talk shop and maybe even be put on to some new music, I know we were! Fire it up!
This week on the pod the boys sit down with a mover and shaker behind the scenes and in the booth @brent_tactic for an in depth interview covering his early roots in the dj communities of Kansas City, Seattle, and beyond as well as his transition into working for an agency. We revisit the often shrouded topic of sobriety as Tactic tells listeners what led to him going sober and the positive impact it had on his work balance. We round out the episode with projections for artists to watch and “what Gen Z is looking for in nightlife”. Absolute blast of an interview and we had such a great time getting into some real talk with Brent. Give him his flowers, and fire it up!
