Getting speaking engagements is not a walk-in-the-park. It is not easy. If it was, many more people would be doing it.
Most of the aspiring speakers that I work with as a Coach and others that I have general conversation with, have this one question in common: How do I get speaking engagements.
I myself am learning and have figured out some ways to do that. However, I also have this question for those who are speaking more on a regular basis than I am.
As a matter of fact, I’ve hired a coach to help me with this … someone who is doing a whole lot more speaking than I am and coaches people to do the same.
My point is that it is a challenge no matter what stage you find yourself. Speaking for free is easier. Speaking for a small fee is a bit harder, but still not that difficult.
The more your fee goes up, the more challenging finding speaking engagements becomes.
In this episode, I’ve identified 5 Proven Ways to get more speaking engagements. These 5 ways are not the only ones, but will be found among the top of any substantive list.
The 5 Proven Ways To Get Speaking Engagements:
1. Make sure you have a topic to speak on – this is critical
2. Spread the word – friends, families, social media, etc.
3. Practice for free – local Toastmasters, Rotary, Chamber of Commerce
4. Become an authority – write a book, articles, etc.
5. Learn from others – NSA, Hiring A Coach, Networking
