Faith, Not Works

In Romans 3, Paul makes clear that our standing before God cannot be earned through our obedience, morality, or religious performance. The law exposes our sin, but it cannot save us. Every person stands guilty before God, yet God graciously gives the righteousness we could never earn through faith in Jesus Christ.

Because of God's grace, there is no room for boasting. We are justified by faith apart from works—not because God ignores our sin, but because Christ has dealt with our sin through His blood.

This changes the way we see ourselves, others, and our faith. We don't follow Christ to prove what we can do; we treasure our faith because of what Christ has already done.

From the Inside Out

"The kindness of God leads you to repentance." Paul writes that to people who thought they were fine — the religious, the informed, the ones who could say "at least I'm not like them." In Romans 2 he shows us that God has never been after better behavior. He's after our hearts. We aren't merely uninformed and in need of better information; we are spiritually dead and in need of regeneration. And that's exactly what God, in His kindness, gives. The gospel transforms us from the inside out.

Because of Christ

Jesus is coming again. But how should that truth change the way we live right now?

In 2 Thessalonians 2–3, Paul encourages believers not to be shaken or distracted by confusion about Christ's return. Instead, we are called to stand firm in the truth, trust God's sovereignty, and faithfully participate in the mission He's given us.

We wait for Christ not as spectators, but as participants.

Pray. Proclaim. Persevere.

The Forgiving King

Biblical forgiveness does not mean pretending the wrong never happened, immediately restoring the relationship, erasing consequences, or instantly removing the pain. Instead, forgiveness releases the offense to God, reflects the mercy we have received from Him, and reveals Christ’s sanctifying work within us.

As we pray specifically, confess our sinful responses, and remain surrendered to Christ, forgiven people learn to forgive.
