Today’s Dundonians have grown up playing in parks, being educated in classrooms, and being entertained in concert halls that bear some distinguished names.

The Tay is the longest river in Scotland, stretching 117 miles from Ben Lui in the West, through the Highland lochs of Dochart, Lubhair and Tay, easterly through Strathtay in Scotland’s centre, on to Perth and finally ending at the mouth of the Firth of Tay.

Medical research in the modern sense only became possible here thanks to the expansion of Dundee Royal Infirmary in the 1850s.

During the past century, much has been learned about how we educate, as well as the subjects we choose to teach.

As well as looking to the future, the University of Dundee watches the skies.

Dundee is famous for its strong women – and none have made such an impact as the scientific heroes of the city.

In any city with an art institution as prestigious and well-respected as the Duncan of Jordanstone College, creative pursuits are always likely to flourish.

Ask any local school child what Dundee is famous for and they’ll tell you it’s the three Js: Jute, Jam and Journalism.
