Getting lost in people pleasing

We start this episode talking about how Brooke grew up trying to please people in order to feel loved, liked, and appreciated. She speaks about her need to do what people expected, and how this led to her not actually knowing who she really was, or feeling seen, heard, or understood.


Facing her darkest fears—and herself

At twenty-six years old, Brooke talks about how she was pregnant, recently married and going in to see the doctor for a routine checkup. She describes the unexpected death sentence she was given, how it rocked her to her core, and the terrible, shocking two choices she was forced to choose between.

She describes the overwhelming fear she felt thereafter, how she prayed to God for answers and strength, and shares the scripture that forever changed her faith and how she prayed—as well as the time and courage it took to get there.
