#53: How to Take 1 Bite out of the Elephant with Chandler Bolt
The Successful Millennials Podcast is BACK for Season 2!!!!
We start with Chandler Bolt as our guest, who will bring us tips on how to focus in on your discipline to conquer insurmountable tasks.
At the top of the list of things that seem insurmountable to the creative mind tends to be writing a book. Many view it as a 3-5 year commitment and they'll "get to it" when the time is right or they are less busy. But as we all know, life only gets busier the older we get and the more responsibilities we have. So how can we actually write a book?
Chandler's company, the Self-Publishing School, has helped new authors publish 6,000 books over the last 7 years, and has written frameworks to help simplify the process so you actually get it done.
The main core of writing a book can be broken down into the MORE method:
- Mind Map - Taking15 min brain dump of all stories, ideas, FAQs you get all the time when prospecting/converting clients
- Outline - Group common themes and then that will eventually drill down into chapters
- Rough Draft - Create using the 30 Day Rough Draft Challenge. One chapter at a time, just write 1000 words a day. Split it up to avoid writer's block, in two separate 30 minute sessions daily.
- Editing - Going over and fine tuning grammar, tone, flow, etc.
We also talk about how to not get distracted by the shiny object syndrome. Remember to FOCUS (Following One's Course Until Successful)!
