With more than 21 years of experience in HR and Operations across various industries, our guest on this episode of The Shape of Work podcast is Vishal Shah, Head of HR & Operations at Toshal Infotech.

Vishal calls himself a ‘Techno HR’, as working in the IT industry has helped him deal with today’s HR nuances.

What are some significant HR challenges?

Vishal believes that a human resource manager is a facilitator in any organization. The pandemic significantly disrupted businesses and processes. One of the most significant challenges that human resource managers faced was the performance tracking of employees. Procedures set earlier were according to an in-office workspace. However, with businesses suddenly beginning to work from home, human resource managers quickly adapted and changed their performance tracking systems.

 How to be a leader in the new normal?

A leader can influence organizational behaviour and drive growth. The pandemic has truly tested a leader's true abilities to manage business and employees. Vishal suggests a few qualities that every leader in the new normal will require:
A leader needs to be a visionary. They also need to be able to strategise, inspire, influence and impact others.

They need to grow and upskill along with facilitating the growth of others. A leader who fails to grow and adapt to the changing times will deem insignificant.

With the culture of in-office, remote and hybrid workspaces being gradually adapted, they should be flexible in their methods to get work done.
They need to develop the ability to handle situations with ease.
