Welcome back WITS listeners!
This week was a doozy! In the spirit of St. Patrick's Day this week, Elle and Kay discuss Over a Barrel and Down a Peg by Vera Valentine.
WITS Smut Scale: 🐙🐙🐙🐙
Kay and Elle start off this week by reminiscing that Kay read this book last year and was certainly not far enough along in her own journey to be able to have the conversation that we can easily have today, one year later. We discuss how one of the biggest triggers in this book is just the main character himself... quite literally a caricature of the worst male you've ever met. We discover that this was a really intense introduction to a new kink that Kay did not know about when she first read this (last year). Despite it coming up in a few books since, Kay is just as put off by the thought of it, but mostly because in the case of the story, its being used as punishment. Lastly, the addition of the hash brown casserole in the reviews truly doesn't prepare you for the reality of the hash brown casserole and its... salty... addition.
Overall, Kay gives this one ⭐, but Elle looked at this through the lens of rage disguised as erotica, and with that perspective rated this ⭐⭐⭐.
