We start off this week discussing Rebecca Yarros and her fans' lack of empathy. It's time to get outside and touch grass, people! This week's book has all the witchy vibes we could want as we make our way deeper into spooky season, though we could do with a little more revenge!

Overall, Elle gave this ⭐⭐⭐⭐, but if it had been just a little longer and had a little more resolution, it definitely would be higher because the writing was really good. Kay went all in because of course Sabrina can do no wrong. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐.

WITS Smut Scale: 🐙🐙

We start off this week discussing the NHL's new romance marketing campaign. While Kay understands some of the pushback.... as a hockey girlie, she's all in. This week's book does not paint HOA's in a good light, but we are very much on the side of letting people do what they want if it brings them joy. Kay's biggest problem with a relationship between a 12 foot skeleton and a human woman is kissing with all teeth, and the fact that the skeleton uses emoji eyes and charades to communicate. Also, we have yet another outrageous google search in real time.

Overall, Kay gave this ⭐⭐, although if there had been a few chapters from the skeleton's perspective, it probably would be higher because the writing was really good. Elle liked it a bit more and rated it ⭐⭐⭐.

WITS Smut Scale: 🐙/🐙🐙🐙🐙🐙 (questionable dubcon elements?)

Smutverse news is the frightening reality of the direction of AI. Kay thinks that the world seems to be operating like a big game of Who's Line is it Anyway? This week's book has an interesting premise. Elle was mad that the FMC wasn't doing more research on the man that she was dream visiting, like we should all be doing in the present day dating world. Kay thinks that dream walking is a real thing, and Elle's analytical mind is never going to agree with that.

Overall, we both gave this ⭐⭐.5. The premise was great, we wish she had more time to fully develop it.

Good news only in the smutverse this week. As promised, the link for the preorder of C.M. Nascosta's book can be found here. As always, theres a mid-episode Google search and we discuss whether or not doctors actually used early forms of vibrators to cure hysteria. A scene involving food didn't immediately make Elle want to throw her kindle across the room, and there was the perfect amount of plot and world building for a book of this length.

Overall, Elle loved this one, giving it ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ while Kay also really liked it, coming in slightly lower at ⭐⭐⭐⭐.

More discussion on censorship starts off our smutverse news this week. For the PEN America efforts to stop book bans, use this link here. We were hopeful that by reading book 1 in the Kyleverse that we would have more information to fill in some gaps from Wrapped that we had read last year... we were wrong. The word rake should definitely make a comeback in regards to describing men, but the individual in this book served his sentence for being one. We're also a little bit impressed with how on board Kyle is with whatever situation he is presented with. We also get another example of "you need to know someone before you eat at their house."

Overall Kay gave this ⭐⭐⭐, while Elle rated this a little lower at ⭐⭐.

This week, we start with a very hot topic discussion of whether or not an author should be allowed to replace their book to change from open door to closed door romance, and a much bigger question of do we ever own digital media. We discuss how we love some plot in our smut, but the back story of this one went hardddd. Kay loves a next door neighbor trope, but a little bit of the insta-love has us taking a step back. We learn that Kay likes to be a passenger princess, and that Elle could care less who drives. We do kind of wish that there was a rubber duck themed water park near us though.

Overall, both Kay and Elle gave this ⭐. There was a little too much going on for a novella, even though the idea was really cute.

Finally, there's good news in the smutverse! C.M. Nascosta is getting a traditional publishing deal! We can't wait to pre-order Morning Glory Milking Farm in all its trad-published glory. In our book this week, we've been given a different twist to sentient objects, where the FMC sort of brings the sentient objects to life. We also did a deep dive on the parts of a french horn, looking up a picture and trying to really understand the logistics. One of those times that its probably a good think we didn't have a prop. Elle missed the American Pie band reference with the fan cast this week, instead jumping right to the Buffy vibes.

Overall, Kay gave this one ⭐⭐, while Elle went with ⭐.5

After a week off, we start off discussing the Wicker trailer. Late to the game, but still ready to find our people when we go to see it in theaters this fall. This week's book starts, truly, with more of Elle's triggers- utilizing a germ filled sponge to... well, you know. Kay points out that you really need to know someone if you're going to eat food that they've made for you, because you never know what they're doing with their cleaning products. We are faced with a bit of a "born yesterday" vibe, but in a sweet way, and he redeems himself by continuing to piss off her ex-boyfriend.

Overall, Kay gave this one ⭐⭐⭐, while Elle rated it a little higher at ⭐⭐⭐.5

This week, we're feeling a bit despondent regarding AI news coming from the smutverse. Our book, however, gave some sweet romance vibes in an outrageous sentient object package. We discuss the best chances for success in getting out of the laundromat in a reasonable timeframe, and how a pissy mood can make you talk to inanimate objects. We're thrilled with the fact that a talking washer/dryer is looking for enthusiastic consent, and Elle really loved that the thought of using fabric softener was discussed as an absolute no-go.

Overall, Kay gave this ⭐⭐⭐⭐, while Elle gave it ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐!!

This week has more AI smutverse news, from which Kay is still a little unclear how a company can pay out billions of dollars and not go bankrupt. Our book this week was all Elle's fault, though she's going to blame this one on Vera Valentine for having it on her website. The hotdog stand owner reminded us of one of the aliens from Men in Black, but he gets a redemption arc in some random reviewer's rewrite of the ending. Kay gives Elle a lesson on a Rhode Island food staple, and Elle might still be questioning if she made it all up (she didn't, they're a real food!). Condiments are important for a hotdog, however do not belong in smut.

Overall, though the conversations about the book made us laugh, both Elle and Kay rated this ⭐.
