Anae Dr Neru Leavasa is the first Member of Parliament for the newly formed Takanini electorate, who was born and raised in south Auckland, survived bone cancer and went on to study at the University of Auckland Medical School where he graduated as a General Practitioner.
He has lived in South Auckland for more than thirty years, served his community as a doctor for 12 of those years, became the first Pasefika health provider for Telehealth Services and served on the Otahuhu Mangere Local Board for a year before he was elected to Parliament in the general elections in October last year.
As the numbers in the latest outbreak continue to climb and our Samoan community in South Auckland are singled out and blamed by some for escalation I’m interested in talking with Dr Neru Leavasa about his views on the situation.
