He thinks about retirement all day long. And that's a good thing! Kene Henkens is one of the world's leading researchers on pensions and retirement. And his topic is a hot topic. He is currently leading the research project "Causes and consequences of retirement" at the Netherlands Interdisciplinary Demographic Institute NIDI in The Hague which is described as follows: "Baby boomers are ‘redefining’ retirement, as their needs and ambitions for retirement are quite unlike those of previous generations. Despite this, current research rarely studies baby boomers’ plans for retirement and what they actually do after retirement."
His team of economists, sociologists and psychologists is looking at the topic from many different perspectives. The result is research work that is recognised internationally and has made him an influential policy advisor.
