"Brown Rane performs at Engelman Recital Hall, Baruch Performing Arts Center, on April 11, 2008 as part of 55 Underground Concert Series.
As a singer, songwriter, musician, and composer, Brown Rane draws inspiration from the likes of Nina Simone, Mary J Blige, Whitney Houston, Prince, and Jill Scott. Her sound is an amalgamation of R&B, soul, jazz, pop, funk, rock and hip-hop in one sandwich. She has toured with an energizing group called the Mary J’s, and a dynamic group of singers, MC’s, and poets called The Cataclysm. As a soloist, she has performed at several regional venues, including Gregory’s, 5 Spot Soul Food Restaurant, Remote Lounge, Cheetah Club, and Carmichaels’ Underground Jazz Club.
Opening acts include the Castle Boyz, and Mother Metaphor."
