Known as the “soul of statistical mechanics,” Dr. Joel Lebowitz is a Holocaust survivor and distinguished mathematical physicist. He is an advocate for human rights and one of the most active supporters of dissident scientists from the former USSR. The Holocaust Speaker Series recognizes and celebrates the lives and stories of survivors in commemoration of the 80th anniversary of the liberation of the camps and the end of World War II.

To mark the 25th anniversary of September 11, 2001, the Robert Zicklin Center for Corporate Integrity at Baruch College invites you to a special panel discussion exploring how Wall Street, individual firms, and New York City’s financial infrastructure recovered and rebuilt in the aftermath of tragedy. When the World Trade Center fell, the physical and emotional core of the financial community was disrupted overnight. Yet, through adaptability, collective resilience, and institutional support, business resumed, and many firms devastated on that day were able to get back on their feet despite the unbearable losses. Join RZCCI as we welcome three executives, Dan Chung, Jeff Bauml, and David Krell, who showed extraordinary personal and professional fortitude and resourcefulness in the wake of the attacks. They will reflect on the following topics:

- The immediate human, operational and ethical challenges facing financial firms in the days and months after 9/11.

- How institutions, including Baruch College, stepped up to provide crucial infrastructure, space, and continuity for displaced trading groups.

- The evolution of risk management, firm culture, and crisis leadership over the past quarter-century.

- Lasting lessons for corporate integrity and disaster readiness in today’s modern financial markets.

Ethical A.I.ms: Addressing A.I. in Contemporary Challenges is a one-day symposium held during Baruch College’s Ethics Week and open to the entire CUNY community. The symposium brings together academia, industry, and civic organizations to explore the legal, ethical, social, and policy implications of AI across a range of pressing issues.

The program features a series of panel discussions throughout the day, each combining short presentations with moderated conversation and audience Q&A. Panels will include a diverse mix of invited experts from within and beyond Baruch, alongside graduate students selected through a competitive open call for abstracts.

Most nonprofits invest in programs, fundraising, and staff development. Far fewer invest in their leadership team's ability to work well together. That gap costs more than people think. Drawing on 25 years of evidence-based team coaching, this session explores what actually drives leadership team effectiveness in nonprofits, what teams consistently get wrong when trying to improve, and where nonprofit teams may be different from their business sector counterparts. Tosca Bruno-van Vijfeijken is a nonprofit team and leadership coach and change management consultant working with US and international nonprofits. She is Principal Consultant at Five Oaks Consulting and co-author of "Between Power and Irrelevance: The Future of Transnational NGOs.”
