Since 2005, the Kansas City Metropolitan Crime Commission (KCMCC) has hosted the Guns N Hoses event that pairs our area's finest Police Officers, Fire Fighters and Paramedics to compete in sanctioned boxing matches that celebrate the strength, dedication and loyalty of these awesome men and women. This event benefits the programs of the KCMCC, primarily the Surviving Spouse and Family Endowment Fund (SAFE). SAFE provides financial assistance to the dependent families of first responders in SAFE's 12-county coverage area who are killed or suffer catastrophic injury in the line of duty. Often, insurance and other benefits can take weeks or even months to pay while the financial responsibilities for the family do not stop. One of the most important aspects of SAFE is the immediate financial assistance provided within 24-48 hours following the tragic loss of their loved one.
