How does God answer prayers?

This is such a good question.  I have heard it said that God answers prayers one of three ways.

Yes, No and not yet. 

God will always answer in His time and according to His will.  But how do we respond when God answers?  Why might it be difficult sometimes to see or hear His answer?  What do we do when God’s answer is not what we had prayed for?
