In this episode, I am joined by Austin Johnson for a conversation about fasting. We talk about what exactly fasting is and how Scripture talks about it as a spiritual practice. We also spend some time discussing how and why it should be more relevant to Christians today.
If you truly believe that everything you've been given comes from God, how does that change your relationship to the things in your life? In this episode, Jonathan and Jason discuss how viewing our material things, our money, and our relationships as thigs to be stewarded not owned can change everything.
The Scriptures speak directly to situations of racial prejudice. In the Prophets we find judgments against those who were prejudice. The Apostle Paul addresses the racial tensions among the Jews, Gentiles, and the Samaritans while James condemns treating people differently based on appearance. Join the conversation as we seek to use the Scirptures to find a place to begin as we seek to be a part of the process of reconciliation.
Often times we end up making what we do too much a part of who we are. Joseph and I explore Galatians 2:20 as the foundation of figuring out who we are in Christ. We also discuss how some people have used the unique time of quarantine as a means to find solitude while for others it has become more of a solitary confinement. Lots to discuss here, I hope you enjoy.
In the midst of a major disruption like a global pandemic, we are forced to evaluate what we value most. When you aren't able to physically gather together as a community, it creates challenges on an emotional and spiritual level. Jason and Jonathan engage the Scriptures to discuss what Biblical community should look like, regardless of our circumstances.
