How do I become filled with the Holy Spirit? To become filled with the Holy Spirit requires faith and surrender to God. In Acts 2:1-4, we see that the disciples were all together in one place when suddenly a sound like a violent wind came from heaven and filled the whole house where they were sitting. They were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in tongues as the Spirit enabled them. Another way is through the laying on of hands and prayer. In Acts 8:14-17, the apostles prayed for the believers in Samaria that they might receive the Holy Spirit, and then laid their hands on them, after which they received the Holy Spirit. Hearing the gospel can also lead to receiving the Holy Spirit, as we see in Acts 10:44-45 when the Holy Spirit fell upon all those who were listening to Peter's message. Finally, Luke 11:9-13 tells us that we can ask God for the Holy Spirit and he will give it to us.
