Rana is the author of several widely appreciated books, including story collections like 'Sikhar Dupehra,' 'Khittiyan Ghuman Rahiyaan Ne,' and the novel 'Itthon Registan Disda Hai.' His stories often explore social realities with sharp insight and deep empathy. He has also compiled and edited notable works such as 'Kinnarān Da Vi Dil Hunda Hai' and 'Kafan Di Jeb Nahin Hundi,' highlighting marginalized voices of those who have seldom featured in Punjabi literary world.His contributions have earned him numerous awards, including Languages Department Punjab's prestigious Nanak Singh Award (2004), Bhagat Singh Birth Centenary Award, and Kahanikar Navtej Singh Award (2005) among others.
